A total of P240-million worth of agri projects were turned over to the farmers and fishers of Guimaras and Antique during the visit of Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol to Western Visayas on August 8-9, 2017. The agri chief sees the huge potential of the two provinces’ area in boosting garlic and onion production and curb the high market prices of the said commodities. According to Piñol, when the demand is not met by the country’s production, there will always be cartel and price manipulation. “I have allocated P780M for garlic and onion production in 2018 to prevent this from happening.” Piñol stressed.
