Agriculture Secretary William Dar thanked the Pasay City Local Government Unit (LGU) for embracing the Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita project, which was launched on October 18, 2019 at the Pasay Sports Complex.
The Secretary also thanked the LGU, headed by Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano for considering to establish it at the barangay level.
In response, the mayor expressed her gratitude in behalf of her constituents.
“Pinapasalamatan namin ang Department of Agriculture (DA) dahil ito ay napakahalagang project para sa ating lahat,” she said.
Kadiwa aims to ensure that consumers in metropolitan areas have access to fresh and affordable agri-fishery products.
“We are here to work together for the consuming public. Kayo ang importante rito,” said Secretary Dar.
Mayor Calixto-Rubiano urged the Pasay City residents to patronize the agricultural produce sold at the Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita, because the products are fresh, nutritious, and more affordable than those in supermarkets.
Dar told the crowd that “Ani at Kita” represents the farmers and fisherfolk. “Kung tatangkilikin ninyo ito ay talagang malaki po ang maitutulong ninyo sa mga pobreng magsasaka sa kanayunan,” he said.
During the event, Dar also announced that the DA will launch rolling stores in the metro to support the Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita project.
Following Taguig and Manila, Pasay City is now the third city in Metro Manila to collaborate with the DA for the project that aims at increasing the income of small farmers and fisherfolk through direct and increased market linkages. ### (Gumamela Celes Bejarin, DA-AFID)
