President Rody Duterte and Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol award to San Luis, Pampanga Mayor Venancio Macapagal, the indemnity check amounting to P20,723,797 covering the payment for the 421,132 depopulated birds affected by the recent bird flu scare. On Monday, August 28, Duterte assured the public that it is safe to eat chicken and its by-products following the successful containment of bird flu by the Department of Agriculture and other government agencies.
