Livestock, poultry private institutions honored in 1st Livestock Philippines Recognition

Twenty three livestock- and poultry-based companies, institutions, organizations, and cooperatives from all over the country received “Excellent Performance” commendation from the Philippine Department of Agriculture and international events organizer, Informa Markets  during the  Livestock  Philippines Recognition. 

The Livestock Philippines Recognition is the first ever recognition event to acknowledge the vital role and contribution of the private sector in the advancement and promotion of the Philippine livestock, poultry, and the feeds industries. It is one of the highlights of the Livestock and Aquaculture Philippines 2023 held from July 5 to 7 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City, Metro Manila.

Among the recipients of the Excellent Performance recognition this year were:

“The Livestock Philippines Recognition 2023 serves ais a boost to the livestock and aquaculture industries as they  bravely face the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, emergence of agricultural pests and diseases, rising prices of commodities and farm inputs, and more. 

Our awardees remained resilient over the industry’s  struggles, showed compassion to fellow agricultural stakeholders, and eagerness in addressing the needs of the Philippine agri-fishery sector,” DA Assistant Secretary for Operations Arnel V. de Mesa shared.

DA Senior Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban  acknowledged the accomplishments of the DA-National Livestock Program  for the first quarter of 2023, which includes: the awarding of 945 piglets, four Artificial Insemination sa Barangay Centers, P849 million (M) worth of interventions to more than 90 clusters and farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCAs) and 945 individuals under its Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) Program; production of 38,645 semen straws and  distribution of more than 27,437 semen straws to 1,173 individuals and 166 groups, provision of artificial insemination services on 9,813 animals under its Unified National Artificial Insemination Program; and distribution of P44-M worth of seeds, forage cuttings, and planting materials among 82 FCAs and 143 individuals under its Feed and Feeds-Based Development component.

Senior Usec. Panganiban said  that the awardees are part of the  success of the Department’s initiatives towards “Masaganang Agrikultura, Maunlad na Ekonomiya.”

“Your perspectives, recommendations, and assistance have been helpful in the crafting of local and national policies and programs for our farmers and fisherfolk. We express our gratitude to all of you  from the livestock, poultry, and aquaculture industries for your outstanding contributions in the growth and advancement of Philippine agriculture,” he emphasized.

Also present during the recognition ceremony were DA-NLP Director Ruth S. Miclat-Sonaco, AGAP Partylist Representative Nicanor M. Briones, Informa Markets Regional Director for ASEAN Rose Chitanuwat, and Informa Markets Country General Manager for Malaysia and the Philippines Gerard Leeuwenburgh. ### (Krystelle Ymari A.
