Agriculture secretary Manny Piñol (standing in light blue polo shirt), rides a speedboat with Bunawan Mayor Edwin Elorde (in gray polo shirt) and Vice Governor Sammy Tortor (in pink polo shirt), to visit isolated farmer-residents of Purok 6, Barangay Nueva Era, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur whose farms are still submerged in eight-feet deep flood water brought about by the Tropical Depression (TD) Auring. Piñol assured the farmers that the government will provide seed and fertilizer support, and will prioritize gravely affected areas. While waiting for the water to subside in the next two months and prepare for the next cropping season, fishing will be the alternative livelihood of the residents. (photo by Alan Jay Jacalan/AFID)
