President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. and key officials of the Department of Agriculture (DA) continue their discussions on the government’s plan to enhance the country’s food production.
Their meeting on July 18, 2022 focused on the DA’s operational plan for priority commodities and programs including rice, corn, livestock, fisheries, urban and peri-urban agriculture, and Kadiwa.
“We need an immediate plan to ensure that our food supply and the food prices are within reach of ordinary Filipinos from now until the end of the year,” the President and current DA Secretary said.
The officials also talked about the Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) Network Plan and the need to prioritize and harmonize FMR projects implemented by various agencies. The group will meet again soon to tackle other immediate concerns in the agriculture and fisheries sector. ### (Photos by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
