The Department of Agriculture (DA) kicks off the 2023 World Food Day (WFD) celebration on October 16, 2023 at the DA Central Office in Quezon City.
The opening program and ribbon cutting ceremony were led by 2023 WFD Chairperson and Assistant Secretary Jane Bacayo, together with Asec. Rex Estoperez, Asec. Genevieve E. Velicaria-Guevarra, Director Alice Ilaga, OIC-Exec. Dir. Juliet Opulencia, OIC-Asec. Junibert E. De Sagun, and PFDA Asst. General Manager Iris de Vera, among others.
With this year’s theme – “Water is life, water is food. Leave No One Behind”, the WFD underscores the vital role of water in our daily lives, particularly in food production and processing of by-products.
As part of the event, an exhibit highlighting the initiatives of the Department to combat water wastage and scarcity was also unveiled at the DA lobby. It also showcased the works of the five young students from the 2023 WFD Poster Making Contest. ### (photos by Joseph Henry Elamparo, DA-AFID)
