A total of P776 million worth of excavators were turned over to irrigators’ associations (IA) during a ceremony at the Naval Supply Depot (NSD) Compound in Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Olongapo City, December 13.

The machines, which will be distributed to IA all across the country, form part of the Equipment Refleeting Program of the National irrigation Administration (NIA).

Aside from augmenting the country’s inventory of machinery and resources, the three-year program aims to undertake and intensify the regular operation and maintenance of national irrigation systems (NIS) as well as to provide immediate repair and/or construction of irrigation facilities that are damaged by disasters. ### (Photos by Gian Carlo Luague, DA-AFID)
