Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. and San Juan City Mayor Francis Javier Zamora officially launched the sale of rice from the National Food Authority to San Juan residents on Monday, February 24, 2025, as part of the Department of Agriculture’s initiatives under the Food Security Emergency on Rice.

The San Juan local government is selling NFA rice at cost, with no added margin, for ₱33 per kilo or ₱1,650 per sack—the same price it was procured from the NFA.

The NFA will release 25,000 metric tons of rice per month for as long as the emergency remains in effect. This aims to provide consumers with more affordable rice options while ensuring the NFA maintains sufficient capacity to purchase palay from local farmers. ### (photos by Jay Morales, DA-OSEC)
