The Department of Agriculture (DA) together with its Regional Field Offices, the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), High Value Crops Development Program, the National Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture Program joined the Nationwide Simultaneous Bamboo and Tree Planting Activity on September 13, 2022.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., who celebrated his 65th birthday during the event, led the simultaneous tree planting at the Old San Mateo Sanitary Landfill in Rizal.
The activity was spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
With the theme: “Buhayin ang Pangangalaga sa Kalikasan,” DENR aims to cover more than 11.6 hectares of the “enhanced National Greening Program areas” in 2023.
DA, through BPI, provided mango seedlings, intercropped with banana (saba), in support to the tree planting activity, which was also participated by various civil society organizations and volunteers. ### (photos courtesy of the DA Regional Field Offices)
