Agriculture Senior Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban and Bureau of Animal Industry OIC-Director Dr. Paul C. Limson met with the officials of the KPP Powers Commodities Inc. on January 27, 2023.
KPP Powers Commodities Inc. is a Philippine-based company which specializes in the importation and distribution of feed additives and supplements for the livestock and poultry industries. Their products include vitamins, minerals, antibiotics, acidifiers, preservatives, coccidiostats, enzymes and other nutritients for hogs and chicken.
During the meeting, KPP CEO Ms. Pinky Pe Tobiano discussed recent partnership with the AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company, “which may finally end the search for vaccine against African Swine Fever (ASF).”
KPP has secured the exclusive distributorship of the “AVAC’s ASF Live Vaccine”, which is the only product of its kind with a government authorization for export and a duly approved Certificate of Product Registration from Vietnam.
Tobiano, who is also a chemist for KPP, requested the Department’s assistance in facilitating the field testing of the vaccine. She added that their company hopes for positive outcome and replicate the successful result of Vietnam’s field trial. A month-long field trial in four farms is set start as the first 1,000 dosages is expected to arrive next week.
During the meeting, Tobiano asked the support of DA-BAI help in coordinating with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the release of a special import permit that will allow more hogs to be tested with vaccines. ### (text by Kristel Merle/photos by Adonis Buhayan, DA-AFID)
