The Philippine Association of Meat Processors Inc. (PAMPI) consulted with Department of Agriculture (DA) Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban regarding key policy concerns in the industry on January 23, 2023.
Among the topics discussed was the adoption of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) guidelines on zoning/regionalization of areas in countries with disease outbreaks, review of first border inspection policies, regulation of processed meat products, and the establishment of Cold Examination Facility in Agriculture.
With the assistance from DA, the PAMPI officials expressed that they would like to help in keeping the prices of processed meat products affordable for Filipino consumers.
Undersecretary Panganiban committed DA’s support and directed the DA-Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and the DA-National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) to help with the industry concerns.
Assistant Secretary for Operations Arnel De Mesa, DA-BAI Director Paul Limson, DA-NMIS Director Clarita Sangcal, PAMPI Vice President Jerome Ong, and other key officials of DA and PAMPI attended the meeting. ### (photos by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
