Assistant Secretary James Layug reports that a total of eight million kilos of agricultural and fishery commodities amounting to P1.5 billion pesos have been apprehended during a series of joint inspection of the Department of Agriculture and other national agencies including the Bureau of Customs and the Philippine Coast Guard.
The operations, participated by other DA regulatory units including the Bureau of Plant Industry, Bureau of Animal Industry, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, among others, is part of the efforts of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to curb the illegal entry of various commodities to protect the local agriculture sector as well as the consuming public. ### (photos by Gian Carlo Luague, DA-AFID)
