Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol turns over 55 units of motorized fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) boats to local fishers of Bohol during the Tapatan: Gobyerno at Mamamayan forum of the Department of Agriculture on July 18, 2018 held at the municipality of Loon. The 22-footer FRP boats were turned-over to fisherfolk-beneficiaries of the 33 coastal barangays of Loon, including its island-barangays. Under the F/B Pagbabago Program of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the boats were awarded to Loon for being one of the top ten local government units nationwide with a high percentage of registered fisherfolk under the National Program for Fisherfolk Registration (FishR). Implemented through the “Bangka Ko, Gawa Ko” scheme, the beneficiaries underwent hands-on training on boat fabrication. Boats were constructed within a 60-day period.
