Author: DA-AFID | 9 December 2023

Officials of the Department of Agriculture on Friday, December 8, began a series of random market visits around Metro Manila  to ensure stable prices and supply of farm goods for the coming Christmas season.

As first stop, DA officials led by DA Undersecretary for Operations Roger Navarro visited the Mega Q-Mart and Kamuning Public Market in Quezon City.

Navarro said there is sufficient supply of meat, poultry, vegetables and fish in the two public markets.

Apart from market visits, he said DA will discuss with other agencies that comprise the National Price Coordinating Council what interventions could done to ensure prices remain stable and that imported goods do not flood the market and undermine local producers.

Navarro was accompanied during the market inspection by DA Assistant Secretary for Operations Arnel De Mesa, Assistant Secretary for Consumer Affairs Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra, and DA-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service Director Junibert De Sagun.

Representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry-Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (DTI-FTEB) also joined the DA team.
