Agriculture Undersecretary for Administration and Finance Roldan Gorgonio, urged the local chief executives of Laguna to take charge and join the Department of Agriculture (DA) in the promotion of urban agriculture, as well as fisheries and aquatics under its Plant, Plant, Plant Program.
In his message, Gorgonio urged the local leaders to play an active role in stabilizing the food supply in their municipalities.
Gorgonio, along with other heads of government agencies, led the information campaign spearheaded by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) “Explain, Explain, Explain: Pagdalaw sa Laguna” held on November 4-5, 2020 at the Cultural Center of Laguna.
The two-day event aims to provide relevant information on various government programs, policies, recovery plans and responses against the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the event, DA also distributed 20 kilos of seeds and seedlings of fruit-bearing trees and 10,000 tilapia fingerlings to each municipality of Laguna.
As mandated by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, PCOO Secretary Jose Ruperto Martin Andanar was assigned to guide and oversee the provincial government of Laguna on their fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Joining DA were Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez, Department of Health (DOH) Director Beverly Ho, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Director Irene Dumlao, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Ruth Castelo, Small Business Corporation (SBCorp.) Strategy for Policy and Systems Sector Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Josefina Flores.
The first day was graced by the local chief executives from Santa Cruz, Calamba, Luisiana, Majayjay, Liliw, Magdalena, Pila, Rizal, Nagcarlan, and Alaminos.
The second day was graced by the local chief executives from Pagsanjan, Cavinti, Lumban, Kalayaan, Paete, Pakil, Pangil, Siniloan, Famy, Santa Maria, and Mabitac. ### (Kristel Merle, DA-AFID)
