The Department of Agriculture – Field Programs Operational Planning Division (DA FPOPD), in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS) facilitated the Technical Training and Consultation Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Information System (DRRMIS) and GeoriskPH Integrated Platforms from February 27 to March 3, 2023 in Angeles, Pampanga.
Attended by personnel from various offices in DA, the training-workshop aims to capacitate participants on the utilization of DRRMIS and the GeoRiskPH Integrated Platforms that can be applied to their respective offices, particularly on disaster risk reduction and management operations. This was done through lectures by resource speakers from DA FPOPD and DOST-PHIVOLCS, along with hands-on exercises for the participants to apply what they learned from the activity.
The DRRMIS is a web-based system initiated and developed by DA FPOPD – Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Section and Operations Management Information System (OMIS) Section, which aims to digitalize and centralize reporting of damage and losses, as well as rehabilitation and recovery interventions beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, GeoRiskPH is a multi-agency initiative led by the DOST-PHIVOLCS that aims to provide protocols and platforms to share hazards, exposure and other risk information to help people, communities, local governments, and national agencies prepare and plan how to reduce the risks from natural hazards. An application developed by GeoRiskPH is GeoMapperPH, which serves as a platform to facilitate collection of exposure, vulnerability and coping capacity data for a more comprehensive and accurate planning, and damage and risk assessments.
The training-workshop was made possible through the host region DA Regional Field Office III. ###
