The Department of Agriculture (DA) staged a two-day TienDA Farmers and Fishers Outlet on September 15-16, 2017 at the LGV The Gardens, Guatemala Open Space, Loyola Grand Villas, Quezon City.
TienDA is a marketing initiative of DA, which aims to provide a direct trading center for farmers and fisherfolks and eventually eliminate cartels, middlemen and dicers. It is in line with President Duterte directive to provide available and affordable food for Filipinos.
It is participated by some 50 farmers and farm cooperatives across the country.
Some of the products sold at the TienDA include fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy produce such as eggs and chicken, basic commodities such as rice and sugar as well as fish and other marine produce.
TienDA was initially launched on July 28 at the BPI compound in Manila and was followed by a three-day market event from August 18-20 at the Agricultural Training Institute in Quezon City.
Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol disclosed that come October, DA will set-up another outlet called as “TienDA Para sa Mga Bayani” at the Philippine Army Camp in Fort Bonifacio to serve soldiers and their families.
During the event, the Secretary will also launch the “Karne, Isda Supply Strategy Para sa Masa” or KISS PM. ###
