Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr. led the opening of exhibit during the celebration of the 94th founding anniversary of the Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) at Malate, Manila on January 25, 2023.
Joining the Secretary were officials from the DA-BPI led by Director Gerald Glenn Panganiban, Assistant Director for Research and Development, and Production Support Services Herminigilda Gabertan, and Assistant Director for Regulatory Services Ruel Gesmundo.
The exhibit highlighted the accomplishments and significant milestones achieved by the various divisions and research centers under DA-BPI.
During the celebration, the DA-BPI launched the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Corn Reference Manual, BPI’s Research and Development Strategic Map, Trainer’s Manual for Organic Agriculture, and BPI Employees’ Handbook.
It also disclosed the details of the first-ever Philippine Horticulture and Urban Agriculture Summit scheduled to take place from May 3 to May 5, 2024.
