Officials of the Meat Importers and Traders Association (MITA) led by its President Jess Cham pay a courtesy visit to Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr. on January 3, 2024 at DA Apacible Hall in Quezon City.
During the meeting, Sec. Tiu Laurel urged MITA representatives to closely coordinate with DA’s meat regulatory agencies to find common ground and discuss solutions to various challenges and concerns related to frozen pork and poultry products.
He said the DA will review these policies and formulate simpler and more practical guidelines to ensure food safety and a level playing field in the meat industry. ### (photos by Adonis Buhayan, DA-AFID)
