The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Korea Partnership for Innovation of Agriculture (KOPIA) Center, together with partners from the academe, local government units, and the private sector, celebrated the completion of infrastructure projects for farmers in Siniloan, Laguna on September 5, 2023.
DA Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban, Republic of Korea Ambassador to the Philippines Sang-hwa Lee, DA-Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) Assistant Director Herminigilda Gabertan, and KOPIA Philippines Center Director Kyu Seong Lee led the ribbon cutting for the completed nine greenhouses and one postharvest building.
The infrastructure development is a component of the “Pilot Village Project on Protective Cultivation and Postharvest Management of Vegetables in the Philippines” funded by KOPIA and implemented by the DA-BPI Los Baños National Crop Research, Development and Production Support Center.
The ceremony was also attended by DA-CALABARZON Regional Field Office Director Milo Delos Reyes, DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research Director Junel Soriano, DA-BPI Los Baños Center Chief Flora Jarilla, University of the Philippines Los Baños Chancellor Jose Camacho, Jr., and Laguna State Polytechnic University President Mario Briones. Siniloan Mayor Patrick Ellis Go and other officials and representatives of the Province of Laguna, Municipality of Siniloan, farmers’ association and cooperatives, and private sector partners also joined the event.
