Department of Agriculture (DA) Senior Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban leads the distribution of interventions for the out of school (OSY) youth of the province of Ilocos Norte who are among the beneficiaries of the Cattle Raising Credit Financing Facility for OSY.
The assistance implemented under the DA-Agricultural Credit Policy Council include financing, training, marketing and extension services to OSY. It aims to provide affordable and accessible credit to young Filipinos willing to engage in cattle raising. The initiative also aims to generate jobs and income opportunities to OSY, develop the Philippine cattle industry, and ultimately increase beef production.
Under the credit portfolio, OSY aged 18-24 are eligible to borrow a loanable amount of up to P200,000 through Rural and Cooperative Banks (PBs) tapped to act as delivery channels of direct loans. All borrowers are required to undergo training in cattle raising and present completion certificate as part of the loan requirement. ### (photos by Alan Jacalan, DA-AFID)
