The Department of Agriculture (DA) Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (ACEF) Program Management Committee (PMC) held its monthly meeting on November 14, 2022.
DA Undersecretary for Agri-Industrialization Rodolfo Vicerra, who chaired the meeting, highlighted the need to support and enhance the competitiveness of all agricultural commodities, which is the primary purpose of ACEF.
“ACEF should encourage the formation of (farmers’) cooperatives to encourage them to improve their production setup,” Undersecretary Vicerra added.
In addition to organizing farmers for a more efficient distribution of resources, the undersecretary also asked the PMC to come up with new strategies to be adopted and lessen the difficulties for farmer beneficiaries.
During the meeting, the PMC also tackled the impacts of completed projects under the ACEF research and development grant, the nationwide impact assessment and evaluation of the ACEF program implementation, and the organization of farmers into cooperatives, among others. ### (photos by Gian Carlo Luague, DA-AFID)
