Department of Agriculture (DA) Senior Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban and Assistant Secretary James A. Layug, welcomed Police Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo, Chief of the Philippine National Police – National Capital Region Police Office (PNP – NCRPO), during a courtesy meeting on November 11, 2022.

The meeting aims to further improve the cooperation between the two agencies in the fight against anti smuggling and price manipulation of agricultural commodities.

Asec. Layug presented the three-strategic line of actions of DA’s regulations and enforcement, which focuses on ensuring food safety, promoting fair trade, and protecting the livelihood of farmers and fisherfolk. He also presented proposed policies to improve DA efforts.

Meanwhile, PBGEN Estomo expressed the commitment of the PNP-NCRPO to assist DA in its efforts to intensify the “second border” protection, and conduct of inventory, inspection and monitoring of all warehouses and cold storage facilities in the country.

Also present during the meeting were PNP-NCRPO District Directors: PBGEN Nicolas Deloso Torre III (Quezon City Police District), PBGEN Andre Perez Dizon (Manila Police District), PCOL Ponce Rogelio Ibasco Peñones (Northern Police District), PCOL Wilson Casil Asueta (Eastern Police District), and PCOL Kirby John Brion Kraft (Southern Police District). ### (photos by Adonis Buhayan, DA-AFID)
