DAVAO CITY—The Bangsamoro government is constructing a feed mill for a small-scale farmers associations in Maguindanao and to promote the production of poultry and fish based on Islamic food preparation practices called halal.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (Mafar) started the construction of the small-scale halal feed mill in Barangay Muti, Guindulungan in Maguindanao on June 1 with a budget of P1.99 million.
Part of its objective in constructing the infrastructure was to “strengthen the halal promotion compliance in the region.”
Senior Agriculturist Saidona Lawan, head of Mafar Halal Development Program, said the project would provide the halal feeds in the area and the other needs of the region to promote halal-compliant poultry and fish production.
“We proposed this project to ensure that we can provide and maintain halal-compliant products starting from farm to plate,” Lawan said.
The halal feed mill building would be built in an area of 150 square meters and would be capable of storing 500 sacks to 600 sacks of feeds.
The feed mill is expected to be completed in 108 calendar days, which will be turned over to Sisiman Agriculture Cooperative.
Guindulungan Municipal Administrator Datu Harabas Midtimbang expressed gratitude to Mafar for the halal programs and assistance in their area, including the construction of the feed mill.
“This is a big help for us to have a halal feed mill project that will ride with our vision to be an Islamic center municipality,” Midtimbang said.
On April 28 this year, Mafar officials turned over a feed mill machine to its beneficiaries.
