CENTRAL Luzon was able to achieve a total of 3,741,210.53 metric tons (MT) rice production, which is almost three percent or 106,062.94 metric tons higher compared to 3,635,147.59 MT of the previous year 2020.
The latest data is based on the 2021 data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
The record also showed an increase in the area harvested of 2.37 percent or 16,854.42 hectares.
In his message, Department of Agriculture (DA)-Central Luzon Executive Director Crispulo Bautista Jr. recognized the efforts of the farmers in the region for they are the main reason why the region continuously excels in agriculture sector.
Bautista also thanked the joined efforts of the key officials/employees of DA-Central Luzon, partner LGUs, DA attached agencies, and the private sector and he challenged them to maintain or surpass the milestone in the following year.
Meanwhile, DA Secretary William Dar noted that Central Luzon is one of the biggest contributors to local rice production in the country.
