Assistant Secretary for Administration Roldan G. Gorgonio, on behalf of the Department of Agriculture (DA), accepts the Certificate of Collaboration for hotline 8888 from the Office of the Cabinet Secretary, Office of the President (OCS-OP) represented by Undersecretary Dale S. Cabrera of the Strategic Action and Response Office on September 11, 2018 at the DA office.
The certificate states that DA has complied with the requirements for collaboration for the implementation and operation of the 8888 Citizen’s Complaints Hotline such as the designation of focal and technical persons, attendance in the orientation and simulation seminars, and enrollment of the agency’s online account with the 8888 Hotline system.
“We accept the challenge. I consider this as a very important undertaking for the department. At the very least, we aim to lessen or reduce the number of said complaints considering that it will have an impact on the employees’ performance,” Asec. Gorgonio said.
Pursuant to Executive Order No. 6, s. 2016 signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the Hotline 8888 is established to allow citizens to report poor government frontline services delivery and corrupt practices of any national government agency, government-owned and controlled corporation, government financial institutions, and other instrumentalities of government.
A complaint of citizens should be given concrete and specific action within 72 hours upon receipt of the concern by the proper government agency.
The OCS-OP aims to integrate hotline 8888 to other technology channels such as short message services (SMS), electronic mail, website, and social media. ### (Kristel Merle, DA-AFID)
