To further promote and increase the awareness about the Halal industry, the Department of Agriculture conducted the first Halal trade fair and exhibit in SMX Lanang, Davao City on November 23-25, 2017.
Themed “Investing and Nurturing the Philippine Halal Industry”, the event seeks to highlight the Philippine Halal certified products and promote the Halal way of living.
“Halal is not just for Muslims, it is for everybody,” Undersecretary for Special Concerns Atty. Ranibai Dilangalen said during the opening ceremony.
The global Halal industry is currently valued at 3 trillon USD and is expected to go up to 10 trillon USD by 2030.
“The Philippines is only getting a small chunk of this market with only 600-800 million USD in export,” Dilangalen explained.
“The trade fair and similar undertaking from the DA, in coordination with other government agencies are expected to increase our share in the global Halal market,” she added. ### (Carlos Cezar Baldosa, DA-AFID)
